When someone takes over a elisting from another person that has been the
term for 20 years in fido. Hijacking. Its benn done in style in Fn_sysop
for example over the years. I NEVER got a notice it was expired like i
used. I used to get regular 6 month notices. But Thom isn't as urgent on
them as they used to be. No big deal. So I had NO clue it was expired. I
don't keep track here and a countdown. The thing to do would've been maybe
let me know it had expired first. Then I'd have sent in a register in
seconds. I've done that before in this echo when I've seen the notice in
this echo (but those stopped as well or never got to this sytem).

SD> But it doesn't matter anymore, does it?

Not in the big scheme.

Callers mean squat if they aren't active. You know first and foremost I'm
in the hobby for posting. If no oen is posting anymore why stay. I care
less about the games or if I get 100 callers a day. Telnet I've seen and
get reports on the so called telnet active boards. I hear the facts too.
I see no point going that route if its not going to fix anything. If there
was a guarentee of 300% increase in posting I'd stay. But that's how much
posting has reduced in the last few years. That's fact. World Wide.
Networks wide. Fidonet Wide.

So where are these boards? I don't see any surges in networks (fido, mine
or the other dozen or so out there that are active). Wheres the surge in
posting? That's important to me. I don't care if the hobby gets 1000 new
boards a day if no one posts its just a empty hobby.

SD> Oh, yes, that's right - they all have telnet access.

Ahh..must explain why the lack of posting..

SD> So, it's a sad thing to see you take down your board. But hey, if you

I listen to facts. I see reality. I've been on boards under various
aliases and names folks don't know me by. I've seen teh results first hand
over the last year. I can see it from my board. Fidonet has always been
the biggest network in the world by far. Look at it. I took a scientific
look at this as well and ran statistical reports on the past 15 years.
Since I keep logs back that far it was easy to write up a program. In some
echos fido has declined by as much as 815%. By most echos they've declined
300% on average. I myself could easily write up a mail packet with 300
plus posts in it. Now I'm barely about to get half that. Facts. They
sway me more.

I've been on telnet boards looking for local message writers....
so far only found 1 board that had them and it had some traffic. Might visit there..

But we figured you would probably blow up this way. Keep on trucking!
