I've been using it for quite some time, never see a doubleclick ad. Occasionally I get a message that I can't connect somewhere because it needs to have an active link to some advertising site (quikserv, I think it is). I had a problem getting audio from NPR.org and that was due to two sites in the hosts file being blocked. Easy enuf to comment them out. If nothing else, a very interesting read at this site on how the hosts file works and how to use it to your advantage to block garbage. Don't get hung up about it being a Win help site.
