I have  the opposite problem "Lack of snails" my Convict quickly 
devours any snails that dare to show there selves.
I would like to get a few more in the tank for it to eat as it prefers 
snails to other live foods...
If you could put a convict in your tank it would slowly get rid of 
your snail problem, but be warned they are fairly aggresive...
