-> BTW, to all you guys reading this. I noticed something about my
-> DS. It
-> says Fender Musical Instruments. I was told that it was a '63.
-> However, from what I understand, all Blackface amps had Fender
-> Electrical Instruments on the faceplace until shortly after CBS
-> bought Fender. I don't have it in front of me, so I can't describe
-> any markings, but what should I look for to properly date this? It's
-> not a big deal because it sounds great and CBS didn't mess it up, but
-> I'm really curious, now.
Generally speaking:
Through 1964 they are marked Fender Electric Instruments
From 1965 and later they are marked Fender Musical Instruments.
On the tube chart there should be a two-letter code that is stamped on
there. The first letter they used was C for '53 that runs through Q for
1967.
The second letter is the month. A=January and L=December.
If the chart is damaged or missing, chanses are very good it's a '65
thru '67 just based on the FMIC on the front panel.
