Hi Q!
-=> Quoting Ann Ligon to Wendy Buchanan <=-
-> get rich enough to afford a carpenter! My husband wants to do
-> things like this but he's much better with computers than tools,
AL> Tell him its a virtual table and then mebbe he;ll get the idea.
Hahaha! Maybe...in my dreams!
-> OH, this would be so neat for Tom's electric trains and my stuff.
-> A friend's brother is a carpenter, wonder how much he'd charge
-> to do one of those for me? hmmmmm....
AL> use. Three hours in S.F. would be around 60-80 bucks So the hole
AL> project should sail in at under $210
Holy cats, you sure have that all accounted out! Thanks!
AL> Hint: If the train table is larger than 8 x 6 then build a hinged
AL> trap door in the center of it, large enough for the "trainmaster" to
AL> pop up through it to set up and repair tracks.
Neat idea!
AL> Hope you get it set up! These were great in our small ranch house of
AL> five kids.....and later in my oldest sister's tiny apartment she
AL> had Dad build one with edges for toy storage, that as the boys grew
AL> older they removed the edges and converted to slot car racing and
AL> train use.
A friend has his trains set up on a big piece of plywood or some
such, which is on top of the top trundle bunk in their college
age son's old bedroom. He put the mattress and box spring on the
lower bunk and is using the top for his trains. He set the bed
up in the middle of the large room and can walk around it to set
up things or repair stuff.
AL> It turned out to be a great selling point for the apartment when they
AL> moved on to buy there own, larger house.
I'll bet! People would pay a lot for something like that.
I'm saving your info here with the rest of the info on the "rig."
LadyBear Hugs,
Wendy
