>Hello to all of you, it's nice to be back home with the feathered kids
>at the end of a very pleasant vacation.
Welcome back!
>While away I had one experience I'd like to share with you as I was

Thank you for sharing what you've done--it may, in turn, help someone
else close down another rotten store someplace else!
>There is a new one called "Animal Kingdom" in the Fletcher, NC area
>(open about 5-6 months) that is the most unbelievably awful place I
>have ever seen
We have an "Animal Kingdom" here too, and it is almost as bad. They
were feeding seeds-only (no nectar or fruit) to a lory last time I was
in there. When I complained, the owner said, "Well, he'll only be here
a little while--the new owners can feed him what THEY want to." I wonder
if that's a chain, or if the names are just coincidence?
>An awful smell permeated the store and flies were everywhere. When I

>all, then tossed all the clothing articles in the trash and sterilized
>everything else as best I could (fortunately I had all old stuff on).
ROFL! Healthy paranoia has got you in its grip too! Good move (except
maybe for the watch/wallet soaking).
>is required. After several phone calls I got the vet's name who is
>responsible and he has promised to go out within the next two weeks and

Please do--I hope that I hear they've been closed down.
>I am also somewhat suspicious as to the origin of these birds, none of
>them were banded (neither closed nor open).
You're quite right to be suspicious, but some breeders don't band their
babies (why, I have no clue), so it's possible that the birds *were*
domestic and just unmarked.
>who are also out there in the internet's rec.pet.birds group, please

>I can manage to get the state to shut him down, permanently!
I'll try to get it copied and out there today (7-10-95).
