subject: Sega Systems

Some of you may remember that we were having trouble with our Sega Genesis
system. This was a system inherited from my brother. As far as he knew, there
was nothing wrong with it when he shipped it to his nieces. I asked on here,
and almost all of you said "RF Modulator". When I called around looking for
an RF Modulator for it, one place said, "we'd need to know the model # of the
Genesis."
I flipped over the machine. Not only was there a model # there, but there was
also an 800 number in which to call Sega if there were problems. I called
that number. They asked several meaningful questions, including what kind of
television set was the Sega system hooked up to. As soon as I answered
"Zenith", they knew the problem. Evidently the older models of Sega Genesis
have an incompatibility with older Zenith TV sets. (This set is about 17
years old.) They asked me to ship the Sega Genesis machine to them (at my
expense) and they would change out a chip (at their expense).
We shipped the system in the height of Christmas mail rush, on the 15th of
December. It went to Sega of America up in Santa Ana, CA....not far. I had to
send it Return Receipt Requested, so I know that it arrived at S.O.A. on the
17th of December. It was back here shortly before the 1st of January. We
hooked it up when we returned from Arizona last week. Now it works perfectly.
So there's a testimony for Sega Systems. They repaired it at their expense
and shipped it back to us. They said on the phone that in the event that they
could not repair it, they would replace the machine for free. *We are not
original owners of this machine*, yet they warrantied it free anyway!
I notice several places on the Internet that sell used games for Sega. Has
anyone had any personal experience with these places? I have never used the
Internet to purchase anything. Frankly, I'm hesitant - yet I do like the idea
of purchasing a used game rather than spend moo-goo bucks on a new one.
