Actually, I CAN show you an [reciprocating] aero engine with one source of 
ignition. They're called "Diesels". Not real common, but there were a number 
of 'em made, and there's very serious research, sponsored by NASA, no less, 
to develop a modern Diesel engine for light aircraft.
