Are we having fun yet Tom?

I have even located an artisan, should design demand it. A friend of mine
does true stained-glass work, she has the skills and material to put out a
first-class product.

Pripority fittings being used.

Because I live in a trailer (read: aluminium box) the prime factor in
choosing the wireless PCI card was that it had an obviously detatchable
antenna (it is difficult to find a clerk willing to open anything for
detailed inspection anymore). After seeing an external antenna out on
display, the connector was immediately identifiable as absent on the
packaging of most wireless devices, and that is pretty much how I
determined my components.

I was able to cheat the standard SMA fitting on the cable onto the revrse
polarity of the antenna mount on each of the devices by the simple
expedient of neglecting to install the centre pin on the cable end (they
supply a tiny tapered hollow brass pin in which the core wire is supposed
to be soldered) and left the core wire flush inside. With the pin missing,
there is just exactly enough room to accomodate the pin from the antenna
mount. I looked at this rather carefully, and it appears to be an extremely
risky design. The pin is very fine, and very exposed. If the brass is at
all brittle, it looks like it will snap off if the dog barks down the
street.

matching Cable, fitting, and Antenna feed point

I had those thoughts as well after I sent it off.

... It could be worse ...
