I have a WD (MyBook) 320gb external USB drive.  It works.  When I connect
mine it takes 
around 45 seconds for it to show itself; I don't the reason.  It came
formatted fat32.
I changed it to two partitions and tried to format one of them HPFS, but
that operation 
failed, so I reset the drive to one 320gb fat32 partition.  Although it is USB, read 
and write speeds are respectable.
