It seems to me that a quick google should find you a bios update which should enable recognition of drives of this size. While most newer controoler cards are likely to have such ability, why spend money, expend power, add heat, and give up space when you don't have to? It may not be likely that you can find the updated bios on Asus's website, considering how quickly all manufacturers dismiss support these days, but I am quite sure it will be on their FTP site as well as other bios/driver hosting sites.
