It sounds so illogical that for one second I thought it might be true ;-)

I've tried that applet that offers 'rear view' and 'front view' of the 
ThinkPad and individual 'feature' buttons for 'audio', 'midi', 
'LCD/CRT', 'Paralell port' and the like (I hope there are not a bunch of 
similar looking IBM apps).

With audio "enabled" through the applet the message is still shown 
during boot and of course I get no sound.
