Maybe it's the beer, but I can't make 100% sense of that sentence. Are you
saying that 3 programs claimed to clean it, but left the thing in memory? If 
so,
then you hadn't performed a clean boot, so no wonder. If you *had* performed 

(verified) clean boot, then it sounds like one of them was leaving the virus
image in memory, which is bad, and shouldn't happen.
