| subject: | [OS2HW] Svista- VMs and eCS |

After Parallel (www.paallels.com/en/products/workstation/) took over the
development of a VM from Serenity and now sells it for Win and Linux
hosting other OS' including eCS (Parallel relegates eCS to the status of
"legacy OS" along with DOS and OS/2 (!) ), is anyone running eCS as host or
guest in a virtual machine (VM) and could share their experiences on
performance and compatibility issues with emphasis on eCS in either
capacity. What i need to know is:
Can I install a VM with Linux or eCS as host on a stand alone
(non-networked) box that may eventually have broadband access to Internet?
Given the demise of Svista, I seem to have no other options but run eCS as
a guest under another OS (unless I use the VM bundled with eCS:
Which of the other OS' VM options is best:
1. eCS 1.2 (Svista beta?) - I have a registered copy of eCS 1.2 but have
not intalled it yet, hence my interest in the VM software issue
2. Parallels (Linux/eCS - host/guest) (www.parallels.com)
3. Xen (in one of the various Linux distros and hope that it can run eCS as
guest). I've never seen comments by a Linux user running Xen with eCS as
guest.
4. Other: ? (I do NOT want to run eCS as guest under any version of Windows
being host, even though I have Win2K Pro on a laptop. I'm out of HD
space and don't want to re-install on another machine even with a Win2K
Pro update CD using a registered copy of Win95 to get the update
installed. The Fujitsu laptop version of Win2K I have is too
hardware-proprietary to run on any other hardware.)
