BL> You keep saying this silly dare and so far I've ignored you,
BL> but in fact I have designed, manufactured and sold several
BL> things during my long life in electronics, using my money and
BL> others', with and without partners, and unfortunately never
BL> with tariff protection.
PE> And made a right cockup of it, I see. Which is exactly why I
PE> don't want you risking any of MY money on your hairbrained
PE> schemes. Feel free to "keep on" throwing your own money at it
PE> though.
BL> You said that I had never done it; that I was not prepared to put
BL> my money where my mouth was... but I have. Now you've changed your
BL> tune, I see... now you don't want to risk *your* money.
Before I was telling you to put your own money where your mouth is, instead
of trying to involve me in your hair-brained schemes. Now I am still
saying the same thing, except I have emperical evidence that you don't know
how to make things.
BL> In 1968 the Yen was 400 and Australia had competitive radio-control
BL> until the Japs dumped on the Oz market. So I redesigned the R/C and
BL> matched them, and they cut the price even further with an R/C that was
BL> clearly more expensive. No tariff protection, dickhead... a small Oz
BL> manufacturer being sent to the wall by a large Japanese corporation.
BL> Our capital investment became worthless.
I bet the end result is that we have as cheap R/C's as we can get by local
manufacture. Just like TVs. THAT's the history that counts.
PE> And I know all about earning a living in a field not protected
PE> by tariffs, and being SUCCESSFUL. In ALL of the roles I have
PE> been in.
BL> Successful? Time will tell. My guess is that you will end up on
BL> the dole once you are forced to stop feeding at the public trough.
BL> The way to measure success is to assess yourself over time, against
BL> the goals you make *now*. I am 30 years further on than you, doing
BL> *exactly* what I planned to do when I was 20.
Poor old Bob. For the last 3 years of my 10 years of working, I've been
involved in a private-company tender to another private company, and been
successful at THAT too, and the best he can do is tell me that this 30% of
my career in PRIVATE ENTERPRISE WITHOUT TARIFFS is "feeding at the
public trough". Poor old Bob, grossly covering up how the only
success he ever had was when he was feeding at the public trough with his
jacked-up heap-of-shit TVs. BFN. Paul.
