Because some list members treat this list as a one stop shop for all their
hardware, software and, sometimes, personal issues.  This list is not the
only list with this issue.  Each list I read seems to have a couple of
individuals that do the same thing.  If a topic starts to turn into a
flame war, I will step in and moderate.  Otherwise, I tend to let the
off-topic threads run their course.  Hopefully, the other list members
will recognize off-topic posts and refrain from responding and the thread
will die sooner rather than later.

I recommend you either just hit delete or, if you believe there's an issue
with a topic, contact the list moderators.
