Actually, even 1 tsp per gallon, won't hurt most tropical fish, except
the armoured cat fish, like plecos. But I myself don't recommend using
salt, unless you do have fish that need some, too easy to over salt the
water, over time.
DL> I also wonder on how many dump in IODINIZED salt.
Also read that a small amount of iodine won't hurt the fish either but
table salt has too much iodine in it, if it's used at the 1 tsp per 5 or
10 gal amount. Iodine used to be used as a cure, many years ago, like
copper is today, copper will also kill the fish, if the level is too
high. Can't remember the dosage, for iodine, but I do remember, that you
put so many drops into a quart of water and then put x tsp per x gallons
of water. So the iodine was very diluted even before adding it to the
tank.
Never put Salt with Iodine into a fish tank.
