Hi Louis! LR> Hi, Lee. I will be getting back to you on your reply again LR> - later. Can't quote here. :) LR> For the time being tho, the most significant piece of LR> information you added to me knowledge on BPOS2 is that the LR> windows source code has been altered in the IDE and the LR> compiler such that it is replaced. Ingenious. Maybe I may help you answer some of your questoins. LR> And very necessary for me to know that I can't use BPOS2 to LR> do Windows development and OS/2 development with the same LR> compiler. Until you clearfied this my impression was that LR> the OS/2 capabilities were in addition to Windows LR> development vs being replaced. Well, this BPOS2 is a patch. There is a program delevered with the archive to do the patch. A batchfile does the real job for you. it first copies the old executables from bp.exe to bpos2.exe and bpc.exe to bpcos2.exe. Then it replaces the Windows-code generator with an OS/2 code-generator. LR> How is the documentaion for BPOS2? Is it well done for LR> development for OS/2. I presume the docs, in detail, come LR> with BPOS2, to use it properly, right? In English, right? Well, there is hardly any documentation delivered with it, since it essentially works the same as bp/bpc when compiling windows. Though you will need some units contained in the archive BPOS13 or BPOS2API, these contain the interface-code to interface with os/2. No explanation is given for these calls. You will have to get yourself a book about these calls. LR> Where and how can one get this BPOS2? How much? How do you LR> like it - pros and cons? It does allow one to convert one's LR> apps to OS/2's PM, right? You can get it at internet (ftp.os2.cdrom.com) and maybe at an OS2-BBS local to you. It doesn't cost anything! I like it perfectly, after I found some books about OS/2 programming. Yes it allows you to program for PM, but not with something like OWL (there has not yet anyone started to write a port of OWL, probably because of the huge effort... There are several ports of TV, though).
