I presumed that the pci report of disabled referred to the fact that the BIOS
scan of the IDE resulted in "none" when the primary IDE master is set to
"auto". The MB is set for jumper free and in any case the only
IDE jumper the
manual refers to is for a RAID/IDE option which this board doesn't have.  The
only other IDE BIOS options are to load the BIOS (enable/disable) and in a boot
option (none/disable). I've tried all the combinations, the BIOS scan still
reports "none".

I have no other IDE devices. I don't have a hardware background so I'm possibly
making a stupid error.
