BL> It is inconsistent for you to be in favour of the Collins
BL> program

PE> Who said I was? Next you'll be saying I'm in favour of the road
PE> that goes from Perth to Murdoch.

BL> You told me that your company is unsubsidised operating in a free
BL> market.

Yes, I said that.

BL> Neither of these were true,

They are both true.

BL> and by a process of logical
BL> thought starting from your false premise; for you to believe that it
BL> was free then you must therefore think that such a subsidy is
BL> acceptable.

Which is why you stuffed up your "logical thought".

PE> It would be more helpful if you ASKED me what my opinions were
PE> instead of TELLING me. In the end, I decided to join them
PE> rather than fight them (Labor policies).

BL> It's not easy to understand what you're saying most of the time.

It's a hell of a lot easier to ask and get my "cryptic" answer
than just take a wild guess.

PE> The cheapest I could find in the Kmart/Grace-Bros type places.
PE> I've got my old records to look up. And it was $449.

BL> The CHEAPEST 14" TV (no remote) has *never* been $449 since colour
BL> TV was introduced. All you are saying is that you are a lousy
BL> shopper... and to compare KMart with Grace Bros proves it. Grace Bros
BL> is 25% over KMart on TV.

Ok then, "A lousy shopper could get a 34cm no-remote CTV for $449 in
1987, and can now get a 51cm one with RC and teletext for the same price in
1996 IGNORING INFLATION".

PE> I wasn't buying in 1985, I was buying in 1987. In 1987 it cost
PE> me $449. I can now go to the same shop and buy a 51cm TV with
PE> RC and teletext for the SAME PRICE IGNORING INFLATION. Poor old
PE> Bob. Getting smacked with reality like a dead fish. Yeah, any
PE> time the slopes want to screw me like that, they are more than
PE> welcome to.

BL> I love the way you argue with me in my area of expertise.

I love the way you try to ignore the FACTS.

BTW, in this thread you mentioned "fair taxes". What would be
fair is that if I earn $25,000 per year for 2 years, I pay the $25,000 tax
rate. If I earn $50,000 one year and $0 the next
year, they would give me a tax refund in the second year to make up for the
extra that I paid (on average) in the first year.

There is no difference. In actual fact I am planning on earning $50,000
for 10 years and then $0 for 25 years (or similar). What
I am attempting to do at the moment is trying to use extreme negative
gearing to do the averaging that I want. BFN. Paul.
