Bob, at 11:14 on Jun 13 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley...

It's certainly a tricky one, and given that you don't experience this
problem with other boards, it seems to point to something at Paul's end,
but exactly what is beyond me (and I'm too polite to suggest that his modem
could be at fault here). Have you been able to confirm that it only
happens with Paul's M34F, and not the Viper (or vice-versa) ?

Yep, that's EXACTLY the same symptom that I was seeing here, although I
seem to recall that it started happening during the final 2 weeks of his
running the Viper, and went away once the M34F was on-line. The really
unfortunate aspect from your POV is that you will have been charged for
those calls, whereas I won't (at least I hope that's the case), because the
charging doesn't begin until the STD pips have ceased, and mine never gets
that far. Oh well, the bloody phone bill is almost due, so I guess I'll
soon find out...

BL> From that I assumed it might be me hanging Paul's modem.

No, I think you can safely apportion the blame to somebody else here. :)

Regards, Bill
