Derek,

I haven't been on the air for quite a while but my license is
valid till 2017.

When I was on the air I Rag Chewed on 2M FM until the 9130 went
belly up and wouldn't stay on frequency and the Kenwood authorized
shop I Mailed it to said it couldn't be repaired, so I told him to
keep it for parts. He said he would put in his JUNQUE BOX.

There isn't a Ham Radio store in my area any more to shop at.

Sometimes I would get on 20M CW or SSB, and I still have a
AM rig.

I used AFSK RTTY on 2M and the HF Bands but haven't been on
HF since the Coax from the basement to the attic got took down
because the YF didn't like seeing it in the hallway. .... ..

I tried DX but found out the DX'ers I called weren't Rag Chewers.

After I tried calling two or three DX stations on CW and all they
wanted to do was exchange Name and RST and then start calling CQ to
talk to someone else, turned me off DXing.
That was back in the early 1970's.

I DID have ONE QSO with a Polish Ham on 20M CW who was a Rag Chewer
in the late 1960's.

There may be DX Stations who are members of ARRL's RCC, I don't know,
but hope so.

I got a RCC Certificate a long time ago when I was a Member of the
League. I didn't renew after General Licensee's lost part of the
spectrum to Amateur Extra and Advanced Class Operators.

My thoughts were different than the ARRLs thoughts, so I voted with
my checkbook not to renew.

I thought back then that Generals should Have To Upgrade if they
wanted to operate Single Sideband gear, which I felt required more
Technical Knowledge to "Properly" operate them.

The Generals Class would be limited to AM and CW, but still have
ALL the same sub-bands the higher Class Operators used so the
Generals could learn from those folks.

I tried for Amateur Extra once, Passed the Code Test but Failed the
Theory Test, so I was granted a Advanced ticket upgrade.
