But who is to say WHICH player is the most valuable. You contend that Rivera 
is the MVP for the Yankees but if they had to use him as the closer all year 
instead of Wetteland, they'd have had to rely on their other guys at middle 
relief. The World Series aside, you have to agree that their middle relief 
core gave them fits at times during the year (especially Lloyd, who far 
exceeded his regular season performance for the Yankees) and that without 
Wetteland to hold down the closer's spot, Rivera would have been wasted as 
the closer. Look at how ineffective their bullpen was when Wetteland was 
hurt. Rivera pitched well, however, the rest of the staff, including the 
starters, was useless.
