In theory, yes, in practice, maybe. Distance and stuff in the way
(walls, metal fences, etc) can impact the "lay in bed with my XP
laptop upstairs and talk to my eCS desktop downstairs" and similiar
situations.

My son's XP upstairs lying in his bed can and does talk to my wifi
router (WAP) downstairs. But my wife's XP is a bit fuzzy talking
to the same WAP when it is in the back yard (closer than upstairs).
The path that the radio waves take has to go through the metal
window screens to do that, maybe this makes the signal worse.

So, the usual caution, YMMV, is applicable. I would try to
position the WAP so that it has the best 'view' of the destination.
Since you will have an ethernet cable between the WAP and the
modem/Broadband connection you have flexibility on locating the
WAP. You can even mount them to a wall if need be.
