| subject: | ICLUI book progress |
JP> I agree with you for the UICLUG - it's a nice book. It's nice, but incomplete. For example, there is nothing in the book about designing new control classes to behave like the ICLUI provided classes. Nor does the book explain why the sizeTo() and resize events are not called when a frame window adjusts it children at creation time. I've had problems with this as I end up having to write extra code to calculate the size of windows for custom control classes outside of the class itself. This isn't necessary for the ICLUI classes (IPushButton, IListBox, etc.) so there must be a way to handle this behavior more cleanly, but I haven't been able to come up with one yet. JP> Moreover, there is no reason to complain since it *IS* included in the C JP> Set ++ package. You didn't get it because you bought JP> the CD-ROM version of C Set ++ which has less hardcopy JP> documentation than the diskette version (which I JP> bought). I bought the CD-ROM version and got the book. The CD-ROM version is available in a packaging that includes the same books as the floppy version. It costs a bit more this way, however. --- Maximus/2 2.01wb* Origin: OS/2 Connection {at} Mira Mesa, CA (1:202/354) SEEN-BY: 12/2442 54/54 620/243 624/50 632/348 640/820 690/660 711/409 410 413 SEEN-BY: 711/430 807 808 809 934 942 712/353 623 713/888 800/1 @PATH: 202/354 301 1 3615/50 229/2 12/2442 711/409 54/54 711/808 809 934 |
