I received a copy of the promo for the Special Issue of The Journal of
Psychohistory and immediately noticed the call for "a data base suppository."
I laughed so hard it brought tears to my eyes. Since this is a
"professional" psychology journal this error in linguistics will have to be
considered a Freudian slip that indicates what these people are really doing
to their clients. The other alternative is that either the person quoted or
the editor
of the journal who signed the promo are so incompetent they cannot
distinguish between a suppository and a repository. Well, on second thought,
I guess they could both be incompetent. In either case it is an amazing
document.
