I understand.   I was sneering MS ridiculous "fix" (albeit subtly
.)

I took a look at my NK2 file using the utility Glenn mentioned.  There are
entries in it for mails I sent years ago and they still seem to pop up
randomly when I'm trying to enter addresses.

Agreed. I'm tempted to buy the Intercessor product to clean up my address cache.
