Because the bulk of the people in say Amway arent operating like that.

Yes, you could certainly say that say a sales manager who doesnt
actually get involved in actual selling himself, isnt actually
getting his income from the sales to the public. BUT thats clear
quite different to the way a pyramid selling operation does things
isnt it ? One is legal, the other is not.
