DW> BH> Thought I'd squeeze in a little Fido mail.
DW>No eggs here...let me know when the time comes if you want to work a
DW>deal (trade or purchase...) for a male Sun...
BH> Our Suns have babies again. My friend sold the birds from the last
BH> clutch, over 8 weeks old, weaned, although 2 of the 3 were the ugliest
BH> Suns I've ever seen, to some guy that walked up to her at a swap and
BH> offerred her $300 for all three. Can you beleive this? And I'll bet
Ugh...I'm having little problem getting 250-300 for Suns when I have
them....
BH> that she will want to deduct the cost of the swap's table from my
BH> measley $150. She didn't even ask me or anything. Hapenned that she
BH> bought a Goffins that happened to cost her $350 at the same time. And,
BH> to counter me paying for the table she also sold her umbrella baby for
BH> $750 to be picked up later that week.
Sounds like she either doesn't understand the idea of profit and loss,
or she just wants to get rid of the birds no matter what...
BH> I am outraged. She stopped me from selling between $175 and 225
BH> because she was wanting to get more money. I also had two tentatively
BH> sold, one to you and one to a guy in So. Ga. And she didn't want to
BH> sell part of the clutch.
Well, if this pair gets going again, and I don't do any dumb things, or
they don't do anything dum, we could do a trade....otherwise, I really
would like to get a male from you, if you can work things out with your
partner....
BH> I am tempted to take my bird back and just buy a male. I also would
BH> like to just purchase the male. In the long run I would probably make
BH> better money. I don't want to cause trouble as these are very good
BH> friends to us, and they do things like repair my van for parts cost. I
BH> can't afford to piss them off.
BH> In my head I have many reasonable solutions. But my friend is a real
BH> alpha female and will likely start up a row when we discuss it. I feel
BH> it's reasonable to say " you sold these; keep all the money on this
BH> one. Then this new clutch I will take the 3 babies and I will feed them
BH> and do the work and I sell them and keep the money." Or that from now
BH> on I will give them their share of the same amount, ie, $150 and I'll
BH> take the babies and raise and sell them. Personally I would like to
BH> just buy the male.
This is a tough one....I don't envy you....maybe you should just buy
your own pair?....trying to pair your hen up with a ne mate may cause
even greater pain....
BH> I have the following on eggs: maroon bellies, green cheeks, brown
BH> throats, peach fronteds, and rainbow lories. If any of the shops in
BH> your area are interested let me know. You know where to find me! Big
BH> birds ought to kick in next month.
I'll mention it to the one shop that I get all my supplies from...she
bought some 'tiels from me for the first time a few weeks ago...she
right now has plenty of birds, from macaws to finches, I'm not sure she
needs/wants/has room for anymore birds...
... Birds of prey know they're cool.
