| subject: | BUSY signals |
BL> for the last three mornings in a row, I've had a BUSY BL> signal from your line. This morning (Sunday) the failed BL> call was at 8:41 and the successful one at 8:45 (more or less) BL> The phone rings, makes a clunk, and then I get BUSY. It BL> sounds just like I'm on the end of someone else's call, but BL> three times in a row is a bit over the odds for that... or is it? PE> On Sunday, someone (ie you) called at 8:38, PE> and after 1 minute, failed to connect. Thats not necessarily the same as a usual failure to connect between a pair of modems tho with the effect Bob got at his end. SOMETHING is choosing to hang up very soon after the line answers. PE> There was no-one else around at the time. At 8:43 you PE> called successfully. I will document this as a problem PE> I am having with the Viper with a USR Sportster caller. I have noticed lately that the BUSYs have taken longer to show busy than they should normally do and never gave it much thought. Just assumed that the busy generated by my exchange had changed marginally and so it took a tad longer for my modem to decide it was a busy. If in fact whats actually happening is that I also get rings and then your answers and THEN produces a busy, that would explain the slight extra time. I dont dial with the speaker on so wouldnt notice. It will show up on the phone bill tho presumably. I just tried it just now, listening to the call, and you didnt even answer. @EOT: ---* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
