Telephone cables are usually CAT 3 cables while ethernet are usually CAT
5 or better. I'd just recommend getting a box of CAT 5 cable and use
that instead.

Since:

#1 CAT 5 cable by the box are inexpensive.
#2 CAT 5 cables does not have any sorts of OS/2 compatibility problems
whatsoever... :P
