By virtue of having WFWG on the server versus the local workstation,
efficiency will be lower due to the time delay caused by transport over
the wire from the server to the workstation. Remember, the workstation
does the work, not the server.
It is a good solution for diskless workstations since a workstation
install only requires about 300k of drivespace for the files necessary
to link up and communicate with the rest of WFWG on the server. But,
with the low prices of hard drives these days there's no reason NOT to
load it and run it from the workstation.
The only other way to do this is to have a copy of WFWG in each user's
personal directory on the server so the need of even the core startup
files for WFWG don't need to be on the workstation. This, however,
wastes a lot of server drive space since a complete copy of WFWG would be
needed for each workstation in this scenario.
You must way the pros and cons. IMHO though, loading and running WFWG
on the server is a waste of resources (server) and efficiency
(workstation speed).
