Dean Roddey le escribe a Jonathan de Boyne Pollar: 512 MB on motherboards is not unrealistic. Ads are commonplace for massive memory capacity. I have a Zeos catalog right here. Low end machine takes 128 MB. High end takes 192 MB. (And no, I did not hunt for the most absurd figure. I just grabbed the topmost catalog. :) Consider adding XMS cards on top of that, too. This one has 3 PCI slots, after all. :) DR> database manager will use to 'fault in' the actual data. So, DR> although the application might never use more than 64Meg of DR> physical memory, it is important to have the larger virtual DR> memory space. Very good example. However, I'm not too keen on programs that do that, personally. If they _know_ they're going to use disk space, they should just use it, straight out. They shouldn't deprive other processes which don't waste memory. I want real-time MineSweeper. :) DR> X KWQ/2 1.2b X "640K ought to be enough for anybody." - DR> Bill Gates, 1981 We're (unfortunately) going to be scoffing at 512 _MB_ 10 years from now. Sigh. loSmaH cha' --- timEd-B9* Origin: Until the People Come Home (1:283/120.1) SEEN-BY: 12/2442 54/54 620/243 624/50 632/348 640/820 690/660 711/409 410 413 SEEN-BY: 711/430 807 808 809 934 942 712/353 623 713/888 800/1 @PATH: 283/120 121 3615/50 229/2 12/2442 711/409 54/54 711/808 809 934 |
