  I said nothing about relevant information "gone forever." In fact I
said very little about Paul's folly... except that I found it rather
"courageous" to repartition a hard drive without backing it up first.
I said nothing about HPFS because I know nothing about it. I have no
opinion on it. It uses two different tables, doesn't it, in different
locations?

  It has always struck me as totally *stupid* for DOS to put the two
FATs in adjacent sectors, and to keep only one boot record. I rebuilt
a floppy disc once, and it was a *bastard* that took me all day.
