NB>> Oh, dear.... Did you ever find out what caused the power outage...?
BS> No, I looked in the on-line version of the paper and saw nothing.
Strange, given the wide-spreadness of it... Maybe only mentioned on
radio or TV....
NB>> related to government stuff.... We're currently in a go-round about
NB>> the Medicare definition etc of homebound with our primary care
BS>>
NB>> for the PT/INR draw she wants done on Friday) doesn't accept it and
NB>> thinks she'd be lying to certify that he is... grrrrrr.... ;0
BS>
BS> Tell me about it. 3 years ago, I think it was 3, I had 4" taken out
BS> of one rib so they could get to an infection that was behind it
BS> (gallstone that was dropped during a prior infection/surgery). The
BS> upshot was a fairly large open hole in me, a catheter, and IV
BS> antibiotics every 8 hours. Once a week they wanted a RN/NP to drop by
BS> and look at things to make sure bad things weren't going on relative to
BS> the catheter and verify that I had enough supplies. Folks, insurance
BS> or whatever, got upset because I was doing all this from home. I
BS> pointed out to them that I COULD just go to the ER and have it done,
BS> (silly renaming, the Emergeny Room was redisgnated as the Emergency
BS> Department, ED). The uproar suddenly ceased.
At least someone saw reason there... Having had you confined to a rehab
center, or still in hospital would also have been much more expensive to
them than having you at home....
'Twould also be nice if they all got on the same page as to the
definitions, exceptions, parameters and such of home-based care....
