PE> Well, it was 60ns fastgate, but I was shocked when PE> I put the RAM in, it was a lot bigger than the other PE> stuff. I suspect that it is parity RAM instead of NP. :-( ??? RS> Thats unlikely. More likely its just using lower density chips. RS> You DO mean that its just got more chips per SIMM dont you ? RS> Parity doesnt add all that many more, 4/36 ratio only. PE> Well, this was too cryptic for me to understand, so I rang up Acuma, PE> and he says it is parity ram. When I installed the chips, it was PE> bigger because there were (I think 4) chips down the bottom (orientated PE> horizontally instead of veritcally), which my other SIMMs didn't have. Non parity 72pin SIMMs are 32 bits wide. Parity are 36 bits wide. Thats where that 4/36 comes from. Only 4/36 bigger for parity. What did you do price wise, just ask him ? Or tell him about Johns $165 class price and see what he had to say about that ? I still think you should be publicly whipped for conspicuous consumption. @EOT: ---* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/934 712/610 @PATH: 711/934 |
