   Hi Bill,
This is the same unit I purchased about one year ago (no link of AC3). A
couple months later the new models(same model number) came out. At that time
a
few members of the Echo suggested I take mine back as the new Model 505 did
have the digital link. If I am not mistaken, Gordon Gilbert has the same
model
WITH the link....or knows all about it.
At any rate I was too late and could not return it. On the brighter side I
can honestly say the 505 is an EXCELLENT unit and I have nothing but nice
things to say about it. Mine is used all the time and works flawlessly and is
quiet to boot. A friend has a Phillips that sounds more like a run away trash
compactor.
I'd check with Pioneer via land line and see if the "new" 505 does in fact
have the link. The ad I am looking at right now, in the Army Air Force
Exchange Catalog says that it does....but their accurracy is sometimes nill.
If it does, I'd swap it out, as adding the link to that one will run
approximately $200 if you can find someone skilled enough to do it. Perhaps
Lewis Colon could give us an idea of what all is involved in adding one.
   Cheers, John
