RF> Since I am raising my kids and you are not it is up to me to form my
RF> opinion and take advice according to other professionals. I am not
RF> gonna just have anyone tell me this is what I should do and then just
RF> do it.
RF> I also have a friend who is going to school to be a substance abuse
RF> counselor. She is being taught by one of the leading schools (I
RF> believe it is one of the top 5) in the country. She is also a top
RF> student. She has done research on this topic and well as others. Her
RF> opinion suggests the same as other professionals, that diet has
RF> nothing to do with ADHD. I value her opinion as she not only can show
RF> me the research done on it, but she is going to school now, not in the
RF> 1950's. This suggests that maybe she may be more up on what is going
RF> on than some people who have formed their opinions on what they were
RF> taught or learned why back when.
RF> I realize that you have said you still do research on the subject and
RF> are keeping up with technology. I respect the fact that you feel
RF> strongly about your opinion, but in no way do I respect the fact that
RF> you have name called everyone else who does not express the same
RF> opinion as you. You have pretty much concluded that because we do not
RF> agree with you that we are closed minded. I suggest you look at the
RF> way you post and you will find that you are doing exactly what you
RF> accuse us of.
RF> This is a subject that is very controversial. There are those that
RF> suggest diet will work and those that suggest not. I myself had to
RF> outweight each and had to conclude that ADHD and diet are not related.
RF> Does that make me a bad parent? Does that mean I do not want to help
RF> my child? It means that I did my research and until more proof (which
RF> one day it may) concludes otherwise, I will stick to my conclusion.
Good for you...You realise what most other parents find out sooner or
later...each child is different and some react to medicines, food, treats,
etc. in a different manner...Each one of my 8 children is a bit different
from the other...3 are AD(H)D, one is ADD, the others are "normal", (what
ever that means) and they are different from each other...
One or two of them can't stand mashed potatoes...does that mean that they
were neglected?...or that I was a parent that didn't want to help my child
...I don't think so...and I didn't feed any of my kids a lot of sugar..
they were given home baked treats and I didn't use a lot of sugar in the
preparing of these treats ... and *still* 4 of them are AD(H)D....the other
4 receiving the same foods are not....
So on the above observations of *my* family memebers, I can say that for
*us* food played no part in helping or causing AD(H)D....
