-> That's impressive! -> I have been promised a slightly damaged sattelite dish by one of the local -> installers, apparently one edge has been slightly dented making it unsalable -> for a new installation, but he's in no hurry to recover it from his boneyard so -> i must be patient. In the mean time i have been considering a parabolic -> reflector of simply bent sheet metal (or flyscreen). If the "dish" isin't perfect you will loose a great deal of Gain for the antenna. Althouhg for closer distances almost anything that will reflect the signal in the direction wanted can work. I saw one project using a Chineese Vegtable Spoon. -> It certainly looks like almost anything will work with waveguide tubes. Perhaps -> it is just my construction, but for all the effort involved it seems anyone can -> stick a wire in any tin can and have it work about as well as my more carefully -> engineered efforts. Perhaps there is a precision threshold i have yet to -> breach. On the other hand i have not tried the stew can myself so have no idea Actauly it is a very precision thing. The formulas for the Wave guide antenna take into account all of the dimensions of the Can. The placement of the Connector with the stub antenna is alos very inportant. As is the length of the Stub antenna. Whose length varies a little with the dimensions of the can and the length should be correct down to 1/100th of an inch. As an example the dinension for the Anntenna for the Nalleys can antenna was 1.21 Inches. One cuts a little long and fine tunes with a small file using actual signal strength readings.. Can size is quite important and the Nalley's can "Size" gives the highest gain according to the info I found on the Internet. Do a Google search for "WiFi Wave guide Antenna", Some have played with a Pringles can and while they work they have the Lowest gain because the size is a little small. But when you are out War Chalking they don't attract as much attention :-) :-) --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
