It is flash-ROM based, runs at 33k6bps (of course), and as it is really a rebadged USR Sportster Vi DSVD (voice modem), it appears to be exceptional value-for-money. The only problem from your POV is that it's only available as an internal, but for $250, who's complaining? And yes, it is DEFINITELY Austel-approved.
