None needed I appreciate all the help I get, reiterating the basics is always a
good idea.

I double checked and also printed out the online info sheets for the drive to
make sure.

This is my next step, will take a few days to get one.

drive case or listen to verify spinup.

I can feel the drive spinup and warm up .

I have all 4 set to "auto" though I also tried custom LBA. The
BIOS puts out a
message that it is scanning for devices then outputs "none".

Hard drives cannot be left at

No other IDE devices.

I initially tried without the "smaller" jumper and only installed
that jumper
after the initial attempts failed.

Now I'm going to get the 80 wire and see where that gets me. I'll let you know
either way.
