I would vote for Samsung. I've had only Samsung drives the last 5 year and no
failure since then (all 120 GB, 5400rpm models; one running 4 year 24x7).
Currently I've got two 250 GB SATA drives.
The 500 GB model of the T166 series (SATA II) is very cheap when compared to the
500 GB models available from other companies. I don't know if it's a good or a
bad sign.
Once the Flash-RAM equipped harddrives come Samsung will have a good start as
the biggest producer of memory chips. All other companies have to buy the Flash
modules from other companies.
By the way Seagates has 5 years warranty (Barracuda 7200.10 250 GB 8 MB SATA II)
the others only 3 years.
A simple test has been done by Hartware.de (it's german only but may be usefull
for someone; some charts are also included).
Modells tested are:
- Samsung SpinPoint P120 with 250 GB (SATA)
- Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 with 250 GB (SATA)
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 with 250 GB (SATA)

It was interesting to hear that the Samsung was louder then the other two. That
was a surprise but they didn't gave the results in dB and Sone which was a bit
disappointing.
