OK, that wasnt clear from what you had said at the time, when you were adding the first 2.5GB drive etc. I somehow got the impression that trying harder with the second one got it installed on that fine. In that case it looks pretty certain that for some reason OS2 is having a problem with that size drive, particularly in the light of a specific mention of something similar about >2GB drives in the APAR. I've also since heard a comment that those particular Quantum Sirrocco 2.5GB drives can have 'problems' on Pentiums specifically. Havent heard any specifics at all tho and what was said was pretty vague. It WAS said by that crowd you bought yours from tho, so it may just be that he was actually talking about YOUR problem, and its not actually Pentiums at all thats the problem but OS2. In the circumstances it might be better to carry on regardless with OS2 installed on one of the smaller drives if you still see the problem with all the latest fixpacks applied to the current Warp and wait till they get off their arse and fix the problem with Merlin. Coz its now starting to look much more like an OS2 quirk, nothing to do with the more general question of installing over the 1024 cylinder limit. Corse that assumes you really did try it properly just have a SINGLE 2.5GB hard drive installed, no other drives at all, you zeroed out the bytes in the first physical sector. You disabled LBA in the motherboard bios and then tried installing OS2 in a partition below the 1024 cylinder limit and THAT much simpler config failed. Just be careful tho, that sort of furiously swapping of physical hard drives around is taking a hell of a risk with your data, even on the OTHER 3 drives you arent playing with, coz you need to be VERY careful you put them back the way they were when you stop playing and restore the original config. @EOT: ---* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/934 712/610 @PATH: 711/934 |
