| subject: | Bloody IDE! |
Hi Brenton,
I finally found the bad connection in my IDE card! Or I
*hope* I did! Gee... whatta mongrel!
Anyway, it works!
I use the bloody VESA card for IDE primary and secondary on Mode 4
(plus its floppy driver because it won't disable properly), COM2 for
the mouse and COM1 for the internal modem, and the ISA card for
everything else.
I glued my XOR gate on top of the ASIC with Tarzan's grip and wired
it to invert address lines 4,5 for IDE, or normal when address 10
goes high. This gives me tertiary IDE drives with the ISA set to
primary using the added IRQ11, and I can add COM3 & 4 plus LPT2. It
all works!
BTW, that Prime ISA card is excellent. It's the only one that
disables properly.
Regards,
Bob
