Hello
On most Intel machines, overclocking must be achieved by increasing FSB.
Often this runs the bus at considerable offspec faster speeds. While this
doesn't *physically* strain the hard drive, AFAIK, it does strain the hard
drive data system, a common cause for data loss and seeming drive failure
(requires formatting and even in some extreme cases low level formatting)
and responsible for a fairly large number of returns (affecting industry
failure rate specs) and in my case affecting the reliability of the
machine. I apologize for not going into more detail and over-simplifying
since the mobo's chipset could be as much to blame for failure rate as the
hard drive. However the quality of the hard drive does indeed affect it's
ability to handle offspec speeds. That was really my point.
