FS> I have been having very good luck with SLICER.COM in
FS> Warp 4, and yet there are some people reporting that
FS> TAME and OSTSR are working for them, and that SLICER
FS> will not work for them.
FS>
FS> Perhaps I have found an explanation--while messing
FS> around with things to "tune up" my newly installed
FS> Warp4, I discovered that for SLICER to work, the
FS> Idle Sensitivity for the program involved must be
FS> active--i.e. it must NOT be set to 100, which disables
FS> it. If it is 98 or less, SLICER can do its job.
FS>
FS> I now use SLICER with all my DOS programs (not including
FS> WINOS2 programs) and it gives my system plenty of zip,
FS> even with a DOS comunications program running all day
FS> long in the background collecting data.
FS>
Footnote: I added FP3 to see about fixing a couple of WPS problems,
and I discovered that the timeslice fix in the FP disables
SLICER, so I had to back out the FP. The DOS program
I was trying to control had an average pulse reading of
about 40% on the GA product, but pegged the needle with
the FP, making the system extremely sluggish, mouse
jumping in some programs which were starved for CPU cycles,
and causing most other programs to crawl.
