Hi Matt! MM> Now that CPUs are up to several GHz, it's more important than ever to MM> get the hot air OUT of the case, and that hot air is naturally at the MM> top. Yep. I recently had to buy a new power supply (the fan in the old one died and the power supply began to smell real bad) and went for a more expensive one with extra-quiet fans and 3 years warranty. I actually has two fans. One situated in the bottom of the PS, sucking air from the CPU area into the power supply, and another in the back blowing the hot air out of the power supply. Works well. The fans are temperature-regulated and only turn rather slowly during normal use (one can barely feel the air flow coming out), but CPU temperature is the same as with the old power supply. Now the power supply is quiet, but the CPU fan still stands out. ;) Ciao Pascal --- Msged/LNX 6.1.1* Origin: Linux FAQ - http://www.tzi.de/~pharao90/faq/ (1:153/401.2) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 153/401 307 140/1 106/2000 633/267 |
