From: Gary Britt Yes that must be it. Unicode versus real ascii text. Regedit or Resplendent Lite (v2), which is the registry editor I use the most, can both export in version 5 (unicode?) format or the old version 4 ascii text format. When I use registry snippets to work with or edit and later merge back into the registry, I much prefer storing them in plain old version 4 ascii format.
