From: "Rich Gauszka" I think they just released 2.95.2 and it may cure that error message. Also you may see changes with the compression bit http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/xxcopy/message/13646 Re: [xxcopy] the compression bit edlight0 wrote: 2..95.2 solved the pauses for a messasge after installing the XP security update for the cursor exploit, but now when I run xxcopy F:\Archive Y:\Data\F\Archive /clone /yy /v2 where F: is a hard drive and Y: is a Corsair Flash Voyager thumb drive formatted NTFS with compression enabled, everything xxcopy updates becomes uncompressed. Any switch I can use to fix this? It was fine with 2.93.1 ------------- Well, we somehow felt the support of the C-bit (Compression bit) in the file attributes causes side effects that may be undesirable under certain conditions. The mechanism of the undoing the compression setting in the destination directory is the /KS switch that is part of the /CLONE (or even /BACKUP) operation. That is, with the /KS switch, the file attributes of the source file will be preserved in the destination (overriding the parent directory of the destination directory). You should undo the /KS that comes with /CLONE or /BACKUP by adding /K0 after /CLONE or /BACKUP. E.g., xxcopy f:\archive\ y:\data\f\archive\ /clone/k0 /yy/v2 One minor drawback with this is that /K0 does not preserve the R-bit (Readonly attributes) as well as the C-bit (compress). Without the /KS switch (i.e., /K0), the C-bit of the copied file is determined by the C-bit of the (destination) parent directory (the R-bit is unconditionally reset).
