No, I said I was going to, but I didn't actually do it until that night.
And yours failed straight away.

Have you documented all the problems you are having? Make sure Brenton
gets a list, because he assures me that Banksia will solve all my problems
since they rewrite all the code etc etc.

The lightfax (ie a yumcha modem) has been the most reliable modem I have
used. Except for the adaptive answer, if that is relevant to you, but
given that it has had exactly the same problem on the Viper and the
Lightfax, that's probably a Banksia problem.
FREQ USRPROB.* and NETCOMM.* for a list of problems I had with the two
modems you were thinking of.
What have you got against an el-cheapo yum-cha modem? If I had my time
again, it's what I would do. Lightfax 2880VFC-V34. I will post a list of
problems with it below, and as you will see, none of them are on the
data-only side of it. Correction, one of them is, but that's probably the
common problem with Netcomm 2400 bps modems needing B2 or something. I'll
add yours to this list. BFN. Paul.
P.S. How close do you live to Wollstonecraft? Perhaps we could swap modems
for a month so that we can both "try before we buy"?
Problems with lightfax modem identified by Paul Edwards, 3:711/934
I have sent the following commands to the modem:
AT&F
ATM0
ATW2
ATS92=14
ATS91=14
ATS95=47
ATS6=3
AT&P1
AT&W
1. The manual says ATF1 is the factory default. If it was, I
would only get 300 bps connections, I don't.
2. If I go ATF1, the manual says it is equivalent of N0S37=1.
S37 shows as being 0.
3. My Netcomm Pocket Rocket 2400 bps modem only connected at
1200/75 to the Lightfax.
4. When I enabled adaptive answer, my Netcomm 2400 bps modem failed
to get a connect. The lightfax reported a fax call.
